    In addition to the work of the Board Members, Committees are designed to meet the immediate and long-range needs and to further the interests of members. These include, but are not limited to, legislative, membership, hospitality, and program committees.

    Other committees are appointed by the President as needed. Your interest in participating on a particular committee is welcomed upon acceptance as a member.

    2016 - 2017 Committees

    Membership: Pam Thornton (Chair), This committee is proactive in recruiting, verifying and recommending eligible candidates for Association membership. Duties also include receiving applications from the Chapter Administrator, presenting new members to the Board, following up on open issues, notifying new members, ensuring that invoices are sent to new members and verifying member payments before activating membership. Please take a moment to review the New Member Orientation materials.

    Vendor of the Month: Anne DeCillis (Chair), The vendor of the month is generally a Human Resources related business or service that is spotlighted during our monthly meetings. This team recruits and recommends appropriate and relevant vendors. The fees generated by the Vendor of the Month help fund stipends and scholarship programs for SHRM Student Chapters.

    Newsletter: Allison Ebner (Chair), This group gathers, writes and reports on HR topics and HRMA events in our quarterly newsletter, which is emailed to our members.

    Hospitality:  June Liberty (Chair), This committee welcomes new members and promotes networking during the monthly dinner meetings and other HRMAWNE sponsored events.

    Student Chapters:  Joanne Gloster (Chair),This committee develops relationships with local colleges to provide a resource to future HR professionals. They also participate in various roundtable discussions with the students. Local participating colleges are: The University of Massachusetts Amherst, Springfield College and BayPath College. All of our student chapters are recognized as official SHRM student chapters.

    Nominating: Open (Chair), This committee nominates candidates for board membership, and records information on the Association's Board of Directors.

    Finance: Charlene Dodd (Chair), The budget committee develops and keeps account of the Association's finances.

    Website: Myra Quick (Chair), This committee focuses on electronic communications and coordinates website updates.

    Diversity and Inclusion Committee:   Yami Madho (Chair), This committee focuses on promoting diversity, inclusion and developing business and community contacts to help in the search for new members.

    Workforce Readiness:  Michelle Depelteau (Chair), This committee keeps abreast of developing business issues as they relate to the effect on the availability of a qualified workforce and to the skills needed to maintain a qualified workforce.

    Certification Committee: Anne DeCillis (Chair), The Certification Committee promotes and encourages members to become SHRM certified and recertified. Provides information regarding PHR, SPHR and GPHR certification at monthly meetings and works to increase the number of chapter members who are certified by the HR Certification Institute

    Marketing/Public Relations Committee: Allison Ebner (Chair),

    Government Affairs Committee: Suzanne Laporte (Chair), This committee monitors and reports on government regulation with regard to Human Resources.

    Chapter Activity Plan: Board Officers and input from Committee Chairs: This committee works within SHRM guidelines to develop the Association's short and long term plans. As a SHRM affiliate, HRMA WNE is required to submit these plans to SHRM in the form of an annual "Chapter Activity Plan".
